I think I have narrowed my problem down to the expansion valve, the a/c works sometimes, I have checked the charge with gauges and it is where its supposed to be. I will be driving down the road and the a/c will go warm, sometimes it will come back if I cycle the compressor off and on, If it is raining the system seems to work ok, I have checked the thermistor, Any more thoughts, I am not looking forward to pulling the who;e dash to get to the expansion valve.

Sounds like it is low on refrigerant and the evap. is freezing up as it gets too cold. When you shut it off it thaws out.

I have had the charge checked twice, with a real set of gauges, not the cheap one from the auto parts store.
